“Let God Arise and let His enemies be scattered” ......Psalm 68:1

You fast, but at the same time you bicker and fight. You fast, but you swing a mean fist. The kind of fasting you do won't get your prayers off the ground. Do you think this is the kind of fast day I'm after: a day to show off humility? To put on a pious long face and parade around solemnly in black? Do you call that fasting, a fast day that I, God, would like? "This is the kind of fast day I'm after: to break the chains of injustice, get rid of exploitation in the workplace, free the oppressed, cancel debts. What I'm interested in seeing you do is: sharing your food with the hungry, inviting the homeless poor into your homes, putting clothes on the shivering ill-clad, being available to your own families. Do this and the lights will turn on, and your lives will turn around at once. Your righteousness will pave your way. The God of glory will secure your passage. Then when you pray, God will answer. You'll call out for help and I'll say, 'Here I am.' A Full Life in the Emptiest of Places "If you get rid of unfair practices, quit blaming victims; quit gossiping about other people's sins, If you are generous with the hungry and start giving yourselves to the down-and-out, Your lives will begin to glow in the darkness, your shadowed lives will be bathed in sunlight. I will always show you where to go. I'll give you a full life in the emptiest of places - firm muscles, strong bones. You'll be like a well-watered garden, a gurgling spring that never runs dry. You'll use the old rubble of past lives to build anew, rebuild the foundations from out of your past. You'll be known as those who can fix anything, restore old ruins, rebuild and renovate, make the community livable again. Would you like a recipe for success in life? Listen to God and follow His ways. It is just that simple. What keeps us from a full life with God’s success is us. This is a recurring pattern down through History which repeats over and over. A famous cartoon published by Walt Kelly from 1948-1975 titled POGO famously stated, “We have met the enemy and he is us.” Paul says in Romans 7: 19-20 NKJV for the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. Paul concludes with the answer to his dilemma in Romans 7:24-25 NKJV O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God--through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin. Paul continues in Romans 8:1-2 NKJV true freedom & success! There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Jesus Christ not only set us free by becoming our sin upon the cross but gives us His righteousness to live a life of wholeness and completeness by His power which works in us through the person of the Holy Spirit. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Psalms 37:23 our destiny was preplanned by God Himself before the foundation of the world. Now, we have been set free by the finished work of the cross to go and take His GOOD NEWS and share it with every one He brings across our path. Let your light shine so that others may see Jesus Christ working through you and they will glorify God your heavenly Father. As believers we have been set free. Who the Son of God sets free is free indeed! John 8:36 Do not let the world, the flesh or the devil draw you back into bondage again, rather stand upon the Word, be led by the Spirit and submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you. So if the enemy is us get out of God’s way and allow Jesus Christ to live His life in you and through you so that others may give all the glory and honor back to God. Love Always, Tom & Beth
